Grand Knight Thomas Berry of Council 6203 from South Plainfield, NJ completed the 126th Boston Marathon on Monday, April 18, 2022. 25,000 athletes from every US state and 122 countries ran the famous 26.2 mile course from Hopkinton, MA into downtown Boston. This year's event also highlighted the 50th anniversary of women first being admitted to the race, when 8 ran in 1972. This year, 12,000 women participated. "The weather was great for this race," Berry said, "and Heartbreak Hill at mile 21 was a beast. The crowds lined the streets almost the whole way in and the atmosphere was electric! It was exciting and I was proud to represent the Knights of Columbus!" Berry has been running for five years and has completed over 80 races including the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC. With Boston accomplished, he hopes to complete the rest of the 6 World Major marathons in the US and abroad.
